Summer 1

Traction Man

This term we are going to be looking at a fantastic story called 'Traction Man' by Mini Grey. 

During this unit, we will be writing character and setting descriptions using expanded noun phrases, writing letters and eventually writing a prequel or sequel to the story.  Get your imagination ready!

I look forward to exploring this story with you all and looking at the brilliant illustrations.


Spring 2

Lost and Found

This term we are going to be looking at a fantastic story called Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. This is one of my favourite stories and I am looking forward to all the great activities we are going to be doing. 


Spring 1

Welcome back, after I hope a relaxing Christmas holiday. 

This term in English our story is 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl. This is one of my favourite authors to look at.

I hope you will all enjoy it as much as I do! 


Autumn 2

This term we are going to be looking at the book 'The Dark' by Lemony Snickett. We are going to be exploring the story through looking at the characters, setting and the story itself. 

I am very excited to be looking at this story as I really enjoy reading it and I hope you all will too! 


Autumn 2

The Dark

This term we have just started to look at the story wrote by Lemony Snickett called 'The Dark'. It is a lovely story about a little boy who is afraid of the dark and starts speaking to the dark when he visits him. Laszlo, the little boy travels through the house to find the darkness and recieves a gift of a lightbulb from the dark to help him not be afraid anymore. 


The children have looked at the story in great detail and have been looking at his feelings and how they change through the story. They have also compared the story to 'The Owl who was afraid of the Dark', to find similarities and differences. 

Autumn Term 1


We have been studying the book, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.  During this, we have retold the story and developed our understanding of expanded noun phrases.  We have also used this book as a stimulus to learn about wolves and write a non chronological report. 


Our final week, we used the book Flotsam and explored our senses before writing descriptive paragraphs about the beach.
