Here at Gwladys Street, our children are involved in our Walk To School Initiative. As part of our health and well being.
We want to create a walking community, free from congested roads and pollution, reducing the risk of preventable illness and social isolation and making walking the natural choice.
Our ambition is to get people of all generations to enjoy the benefits that this simple act brings and to ensure our local streets are fit for walking.
If we walk to school this can reduce carbon emissions, improve health, reduce congestion and reconnect people with their local community.
Each day, our children can register how they have travelled to school, using our interactive whiteboard in our classroom.
If they regularly walk to school, they can earn a monthly badge.
These badges have different themes each month;
January - The Aztecs
February - Amphibians of Central America
March - Migrating Birds
April - The Galápagos Islands
May - The Inca Trail
June - Jaguars and Jungles
July - Music and Dance, South America
Please support our children in our initiative.

As part of our Healthy Choices, our school engage in Walk To School with support from Living Streets.
This week, our children attended assemblies where they met Strider and Gwladys our mascots. The children spoke of the different parts of our bodies we use when walking and exercising.
Year 2 won the trophy for the month of May, as they were top scorers in walking to school!
During our Health and Wellbeing week, all children who walk to school daily, will be placed into a draw to win a £20 High Street Voucher!
Good luck to all involved!
