Spring 1

Welcome back, after I hope a relaxing Christmas holiday.

This term in English our story is 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl. This is one of my favourite authors to look at.

I hope you will all enjoy it as much as I do!

Autumn 2

This term we are going to be looking at the book 'The Dark' by Lemony Snickett. We are going to be exploring the story through looking at the characters, setting and the story itself.

I am very excited to be looking at this story as I really enjoy reading it and I hope you all will too!

Autumn 2

The Dark

This term we have just started to look at the story wrote by Lemony Snickett called 'The Dark'. It is a lovely story about a little boy who is afraid of the dark and starts speaking to the dark when he visits him. Laszlo, the little boy travels through the house to find the darkness and recieves a gift of a lightbulb from the dark to help him not be afraid anymore.

The children have looked at the story in great detail and have been looking at his feelings and how they change through the story. They have also compared the story to 'The Owl who was afraid of the Dark', to find similarities and differences.

Exploring the story

Flotsam- W/b 16/10/17

This week in school everybody is looking at the story Flotsam. It is a beautifully illustrated story about a little boys day at the beach. The children explored objects that you would find or take to the beach before being introduced to the images in the story itself.

The children were set the task of thinking about questions they would like to find out about the images from the story and post it note their ideas.

Flotsam- everybody writes week.

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs

This term in Year 2 we have been looking at The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs. We have found out the Wolfs side of the story and how he just wanted a cup of sugar to bake a cake for his Granny.

The children have been creating Newspaper Reports, Letter Writing, Non-chronological reports and have retold the story. The children have started too feel sorry for Mr Alexander T. Wolf and have started to not believe the 3 Little Pigs side of the story.
